Gregg Rutherford Wins World Championship Gold in Beijing 2015

Congratulations to Gregg Rutherford who added world Long Jump Gold to his Olympic, European and Commonwealth titles in the World Athletic Championships in Beijing 2015.

He recorded 8.41m jump and said “I think 8.41m is a stadium record. It wasn’t as long as the last jump which won the World Championships but I couldn’t care less to be honest,” he said. “I could have jumped further.”

After completing the grand slam of major titles in three years..,.which is an amazing achievement considering before his London 2012 Olympic win he had struggled by hamstring injuries.

So what changed?

The head coach of UK Athletics in 2009 hired Pfaff to coach British Athletes in time for the London 2012 Olympics. Pfaff got Gerry Ramogida a Canadian Chiropractor to help. Gerry treated The NFL’s Seattle Seahawks and used fascial work, Active release techniques, movement analysis and acupuncture to improve athlete performance and reduce injuries. Pfaff and Ramogida used ‘Performance Therapy’ by combining training with therapy working track-side with the British Athletes.

Not only does it take strength and determination both physically and mentally for an athlete like Greg Rutherford to succeed, but a good medical team and coaching is also vital.
