Neck Pain is the second most common problem that we see in our clinic. The neck holds the weight of your head which is 12lbs.  Muscles, joints, nerves, tendons and ligaments in the neck can cause neck pain.  Pain can also refer to the neck from your head, jaw, shoulder, upper arms.  Causes of neck pain include, trauma, poor posture, sleeping in an awkward posture, driving for long periods, hours of computer work, hunching over at work stations, resting your phone between the ear and shoulder etc.

This can result in loss of movement in your neck which can cause irritation of your nerves resulting in neck pain, arm pain, weakness, pins, needles and numbness.

Whiplash is a neck injury caused by sudden movement of the head forward, backwards or sideways.  This can be caused by a road traffic accident, playing contact sports like rugby /boxing/martial arts, being struck on the head or slipping and jolting the head.

Evidence in scientific literature published in 2007 issue of the journal of manipulative and Physiological therapeutics found that clinical trials conducted on patients with chronic neck pain had reported a significant improvement following chiropractic spinal manipulation.

Our  chiropractor takes a detailed medical history and examination to determine the diagnosis of your condition.  The Chiropractor at Life and Care Chiropractic devises an individualised care package involving manual therapies (manipulation, adjustments, mobilisation, soft tissue work) to free up joints, stretches, exercises, dry needling, therapeutic and ergonomic advice and discuss lifestyle changes.  A rehabilitation program may be given.  You may be advised to use ice/heat by the chiropractor.
