Back pain is very common in particular low back pain and it is estimated that 80% of adults (4 out of 5) will experience back pain at some stage of their life.

It can be very painful, debilitating and hinder a person’s lifestyle.  Areas where people may experience symptoms are the mid back, between the shoulder blades, low back (on one side or in the middle) buttocks, groin, legs and feet.  People may experience an ache, sharp pain, stiffness, referred pain or pins/needles/ numbness down the leg/legs (sciatic- type pain).

Back Pain may be a result of:

• A fall
• Poor posture while sitting/standing
• Twisting awkwardly
• Bending and lifting incorrectly
• Driving in awkward positions
• Working in awkward positions/sitting for long periods
