Recent Research on the Effectiveness of Chiropractic Care

A recent study in 2013 titled ‘Adding Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy to Standard Medical Care for Patients with Acute Low Back Pain’ (Goertz et al. 2013 Spine Vol. 38, Number 8,pg 627-634) assessed changes in pain levels and physical functioning in 18 to 35-year-old active-duty military personnel with Low back pain (LBP), in response to standard medical care (SMC) versus SMC and chiropractic manipulative therapy (CMT) for the treatment of LBP.

The study concluded; ‘chiropractic manipulative therapy in conjunction with standard medical care offers a significant advantage for decreasing pain and improving physical functioning when compared with only standard care, for men and women between 18 and 35 years of age with acute LBP.
